Macedon Ranges Health, in partnership with VicHealth, will run a two-week exhibition to help educate the community on the dangers of vaping.
The free exhibition, which runs between Monday, 31 March and Friday, 11 April, features a sculpture highlighting the health threats caused by e-cigarettes, including the harmful chemicals that many might not be aware of.
Benetas General Manager Community Health and Care Helen Kemp said the two-week exhibition was an important reminder of a health risk that impacted many within the community.
“It’s a great opportunity for everyone to learn more about an increasingly common issue and have those important conversations,” Ms Kemp said.
The sculpture, depicting the toxic chemicals found in e-cigarettes, comes in response to concerning VicHealth data highlighting just one in three young people surveyed understand what’s contained in e-cigarettes.
E-cigarettes can contain more than 200 toxic chemicals, many of which are found in weed killer, bleach and paint stripper.
The sculpture visually represents 10 of these commonly recognisable toxic chemicals, making the dangers of vaping clear to children and their families.
