Bridgewater Lake Retirement Estate residents are eagerly preparing for their highly anticipated Craft Market, which will be held in the village’s community centre later this month.
Hundreds of people are expected to descend upon the Roxburgh Park village between 10am and 2pm on Saturday, 29 March.
Handcrafted items, greeting cards, hampers, knitted pieces and more will be on show and for sale during the four-hour event, which will also feature a Devonshire Tea sale.
Sheila Curtis, who helps run the village’s gift card making group, said everyone involved was busily working on their items for the event, first run 12 years ago.
The great-grandmother said the market gave residents from across the village the chance to come together to showcase their work while raising money for charities of their choosing.
“There are 32 stalls with a range of different items for sale. We encourage everyone to come and have a look because it’s really impressive,” Ms Curtis said.
Ms Curtis, who has been involved with the gift card making group for the past 12 years, said each month up to seven residents got together to produce unique cards.
She said new members were always welcome to join the group, which prides itself on the quality of the cards made.
Outside the market, proceeds from the $1 cards helped fund the purchase of essential equipment, including cutting equipment, dyes and paper materials.
“We produce countless number of cards, selling them to other people in the village, family and friends but the market gives us a chance to sell to the broader community,” she said. “We can’t wait.”
Bridgewater Lake Retirement Estate is located at 9 Wedgewood Road, Roxburgh Park.
